Contrary to reports by the Mayor and Mr. Brizard, parents of children in the longer day pioneer schools are NOT happy.

While all details are not yet available at this point, you should know --
- CPS has not committed to giving schools sustained funding for any new programs.
- CPS has stated that there is no new funding source for education
- CPS may need to lay off teachers in order to pay ancillary staff to watch children during teacher “prep” time, therefore increasing class size.

COMMON CORE STANDARDS
The new Common Core Standards will be implemented in your children's classrooms over the next 2 years. These standards replace the Illinois State Learning Standards. (Of all the states that adopted these standards, not one state called for a longer day).
