The Future of So Many in One Man's Hands

Since 1995, CPS has been controlled by Chicago's mayor. The nine-member school board, which votes on policy and budget decisions that affect over 400,000 CPS students, is appointed by one person: the mayor.

Communities Organized for Democracy in Education (CODE) has launched a campaign to return this power to the people of Chicago. During July 2012, residents in precincts across the city are circulating petitions asking to get this item on the fall 2012 ballot. If you would like help this campaign, contact CODE at http://www.facebook.com/CommunitiesOrganizedForDemocracyInEducation.
